To most people, this isn't an especially "Savory Sight;" however, today was the first time I've ever made shrimp and frankly, I'm just proud. As a lifer vegetarian I tend to shy away from making fish or meat when I cook for other people, but I was planning on making dinner for my sister and myself tonight and when I said "does stir fry sound okay?" she said "really, veggies again?" So, I decided to take a big step and add shrimp to her portion - I know, it might be more of a baby step. I obviously didn't try them, but I seasoned them as I would tofu with some cajun seasoning. Apparently, they were "delicious for your first time" but a tad oily (I probably used about a tablespoon and a half for about 15 shrimp...so yeah, I overdid it.) We celebrated the occasion with a delightful dinner on my parent's deck. It was hilarious to cook something and not try it, but she was pleased not to just be eating string beans and carrots.
